Re: My new Ca. black lic. plate and frame

I'm in luck, my current 7 digit plate is white but with the raised block California letters just like the old black plates. I also just bought an original back plate tonight that has never been used, no stickers on it and no wear or fading at all but clearly not repainted. Paint is perfect. Only $10 from a chick that collects them but she only had the one plate. I am going to buy matching paint and then paint my current plate black and yellow like C/10 King did. Looks like the original paint is semi-gloss black but shinier than the Krylon semi-gloss black 1613 that I typically use for engine parts. Will have to find that exact shade, it's more like a satin black. Definately not high gloss, though. The yellow is more like a mustard gold. That might be hard to find. May try 1-Shot sign paint.

Those are beautiful. I picked these up just yesterday for $11. I have no idea if they were even worth that or if I can use them here in Texas. Hopefully I can run them.

Correct color for Ca black plate letters is school bus yellow, found some at Pep Boys made by Duplicolor. I believe Krylon also makes school bus yellow.

Re: My new Ca. black lic. plate and frame

[QUOTE=mclairmo;3501896]I really want black plates but also don't trouble with the fuzz. I though about having Ray Ray here in San Diego or License Plates TV make me up a pair of black plates using my current 7 digit plate number but the old black plates only came with 6 digits. My fear is that some sharp cop may see that and nail me. Most won't but you never know. Also, having a 7 digit black plate is a dead giveaway. Better to have only 6 digits.

Yesterday, while using my black truck,to get to work my son discoved he had received a ticket "no front lic. plate" no other infaction was mentioned, just directions on how to get it signed off plus a ten dollar charge. An easy fix!

This plate used to be white.

Re: My new Ca. black lic. plate and frame

Awesome. Thanks for the update Rene. I've been nailed for no front plates twice already. I just hate the way they look up front. I guess I'll be sportin some new 7 digit black plates soon.
