Re: blazer hard tops?
Nuthin' to me, I got three to get rid of...
J/K - is it a single or double walled top? Singles go from free to $500.00 bucks, depending on the condition and the sellers need to off load it. Doubles suffer the same fate, free to cheep typically. A lot also depends on the rear hatch condition. |

Re: blazer hard tops?
thats no fair, didnt momma teach you to share, jk.
Well Ive been severely bitten by the the blazer bug, and cant get it out of my mind. I just need the most crucial part.... money. But that doesnt stop me from looking :P. I see quite a few rusted and banged up blazers for fairly cheep but the tops are always trashed. While looking on cl this week I found a guy selling his top, he had just got a soft top and doesnt want it anymore. He says its in mint condition and has been sanded and painted white and is smooth as sin. from what I can see on the pic it looks pretty decent. was just curious if it was a good deal or not. he's asking 999 obo. I attached an image of it.

Re: blazer hard tops?
Not sure about the going rate in Canada but IMO that's an awful lot for a top here in the states, sanded and painted or not.
Where you located? I'm guessing on the west side. Drive down and pick one of mine up, free for the taking. Last edited by vtblazer; 08-24-2009 at 03:19 PM. |

Re: blazer hard tops?
Dunno if this will show up on a search, but BobbyK used to post here quite frequently and did some great repair work and documentation. He did one on a repair and repaint of a top--I think it was a single wall based on the pics he posted when designing a roof removal system.
I went back into the build threads at the beginning of our forum and found a link to his roof removal, and that led to a link all about his truck and that led to a series of photos of his refinishing. He had the back hatch off and did some repairs. I think he used a liner-type product to get the rough finish--if I remember right, he also used fiberglass boat products for the primer and paint from www.jamestowndistributors.com

Re: blazer hard tops?
Decent single wall tops go for around $500 around here. You can get lucky and find them much cheaper if you're willing to wait and watch Craigs...

Re: blazer hard tops?
I wonder how much freight would actually be for one of those. Anyone know what they weigh? I'll eventually be looking for a good one for my 2wd, and they are few and far between in this part of the country. Lately, the only available single wall ones were in bad shape. I found a double wall yesterday that is ok, but my tub is set up for single.

Re: blazer hard tops?
I took two decent double walls to the landfill because I couldn't give them away.
I agree on the pricing of single walls - very little money up to $500.

Re: blazer hard tops?
We could build a crate for the hard top to ship it out, you fill it up with buddy bucket seats and tilt columns and bed sides or what ever of equal value and ship the crate back

Ummm is that a 1/2 cab? I have always waited on my tops and finally traded 2 away for a case of beer.... Btw that does seem a bit high for a top and hatch..

Re: blazer hard tops?
Wild streak, I've got a hard top on my Blazer well actually off my blazer that am willing to sell for 500 bucks. Its a single wall in excellent to very good shape (back latch handle needs installing). I use topper hold downs on the bed rails and stock hardware up front and the latch hole I glassed over since it ovaled out from the previous owner. Its ready to drill out and install new handle. The reason Im getting rid of it is because its never on and I've got a soft top and a 1/2 top. I live in Bellingham WA. If your interested I can send you some pics. Take care

Re: blazer hard tops?
I sold my double wall top (no hatch) for $250 and couldn't believe it. I thought it would just sit around for ever. Right guy at the right time I guess.

The 1/2 top is what is produced if you let a single wall and a double wall co-habitate for several years...I also believe it has something to do with orientation of the above mentioned tops

Re: blazer hard tops?
Single wall is what mine came with and it has a dome light. I'd look at a double if there was a nice one available.

Re: blazer hard tops?
The biggest reason people go with a single wall is that it bolts down into the bed side. This means you can run cargo panels, and you don't have to take them off to install or remove the top. A double wall bolts up into the top, so you have to have access to the bed side to run your bolt up into the top.

Re: blazer hard tops?
The double wall is a little heavier, as well.
