1972 3/4 front brake caliper/ pad?

Help! trying to figure this one out.I was driving my truck yesterday and heard a clicking noise coming from the left front wheel ,so when I got home I removed the left front wheel and the outter pad (closest to the wheel)has two tabs that fit over the caliper when installed and when I rotate the hub /disk assembly the pad moves up and down slightly causing the noise.I had replaced the calipers when I restored my truck.Do you think something is wrong with the caliper or is the pad not fitting right? To properly fit the outer pad on this type of GM disc brake you must follow these steps. You can try to clinch the pad tight without taking the caliper off of the rotor, but it will not make the pad tight as it is intended to be.
1. Remove the caliper and outer pad
2. I always then place the caliper upside down on the spindle, with the outside of the caliper to the outside.
3. Holding the pad in your hand, with a pair of pliers(I find Channellocks work best), bend the tabs of the pad down so that the pad will barely not go into the caliper.
4. With your Channellocks on the pad surface and the outside of the caliper, start the bottom of the pad onto the caliper first, then press the ears of the pad to the seat on the caliper. You may have to do one end at a time, rotating back and forth.
This method is the only way to ensure that the pad is tight on the caliper as it was from the factory. This also eliminates rattles and squeaking from the pad.
Also make sure that the inner pad has the "Anti Rattle" clip in place on it and none of the ears are broken.

Clean metal side of the pad. Apply a thin coat of blue, or black silicone to the metal. They used to put a small tube of the blue silicone in with the new pads when they boxed them. Re-assemble brakes. Squeal and chatter should be gone? Hope this helps?

I always use that red disc brake pad adhesive in the little round plastic bottle with a red cap on it that you can buy at any parts store. Glues the pads on so you have no movement and no squeeks.

wondering if they make ceramic pads for these trucks. will have to replace the pads on my 72 burb 3/4 ton eventually. i want long life, less rotor wear, and less heat for more dependable braking when towing! nice thing about the 3/4 ton trucks is they have bigger brakes than 1/2 tons....i love my burb's brakes!

You can also have somebody hold the brake pedal down, then take a hammer and a big punch and hammer the tabs down.

I pressed the tabs down which took the play out of the pad back and forth. How do I get the play out where the pad moves up and down left to right where it follows the path of the rotor? Thank you everyone.

yes they do.
The p/n is the exact same as a 1/2 ton pad.
