Dropped shocks for 2" front drop?
I got a set of 2" drop front springs, and was wondering if I really need dropped shocks for 2". I am getting extenders for the rear (4"), but don't thin I need to modify the front. I don't haul anything ('cept @ss!), and drive it maybe 2x a month. What do you guys think?

I'm running 2" springs and stock length shocks on my Daily Driver. Going on 2 months with no problems.

shouldn't be a problem as long as your stock shock doesn't bottom out.

I am running top shock relocators on the front, & a stock lengh shock on my 69. mine are fabbed, but you can get a set from Turner Enerprises for $45. They just bolt to the top of the frame rail, to raise the location of the top eye......crazyL

I have a 2" drop spindles and 2" drop springs and 4" drop springs in back. I'm using KYB Gas-a-just part #KG5409 in back. These are usually front shocks, but can be used in the rear as well. Simply use the provided shim for the eyelet of the shock, since rear shocks require a smaller bolt hole.
I'm extremely happy with this shock as the ride is firm without being too stiff. It's a very comfortable shock. My front shocks are currently Monroe's I think, and will be replaced with KYB's when the time comes. Btw, I'm using a stock Monroe with the drop, I just don't recall which model. It performs just fine, and doesn't bottom out.

When you switch to drop spindles, do you have to switch to discs as well?. My truck has drums on the front.

Yes. As far as I know, nobody makes drop spindles for drums. I went with a 77 front end from a part-out. There's plenty written about it, just do a search on the topic. I highly recommend disks as will anyone you ask!
