Cab repair or replace?
I have a '63 pickup and the cab has a number of areas that need replacing due to rust. The cab corners, area inside above the windshield, top right side of dash where the dash and windshield meet, lower right side of dash between glove box and passenger door opening, several portions of the floor, a small area below the fuel filler neck on the outside, and the top right corner on the outside at a seam where the area above the winshield and the portion that runs down the right side of the windshield meet all need replacing. So what do you guys think would be cheaper...having the areas cut out and replaced or finding a new rust free cab? I'm guessing a new cab would be cheaper after you add labor to the cost of repairing the current cab, and what would a rust free 60-63 cab cost? Thanks

Re: Cab repair or replace?
i've got a 63 also, and have several of the same rust problems. I think a different cab could go anywhere from 500-1000 or more depending on condition or if its already redone.

Re: Cab repair or replace?
It does sound like your cab is in rough shape rust wise, and if you were to pay someone to do the work, would be very costly. However finding a 'rust free' cab is going to be quite hard to find. I have found that even cabs that on appear to be realtivelt rust free anr not really. Once you get into them and remove everything that that is removeable, you begin to see what you really have. It can be even more surprising when you have them abrasive blasted. That opens up all of the problem areas, which IMO is the best way to do it. That way when you're done repairing all of the rust you know exactly what you have and don't have any ugly rust popping up later on and ruining your nice truck
