What do you think? started when i was 15. 72 gmc now a 72 chevy lifted
I figure its about time for me to start a post about my truck i'm building even though i started it about 2 years ago when i was 15. it was a 72 gmc long wood box 4x4 3/4 ton that still has original 350 engine and tranny in it. When buildin this truck i decided to make it into a chevy because i like them better.
the truck has about 260,000 miles on it and use to be a dozer truck for a guy so its pretty rough. the back end of the frame was actually ripped in two and welded back together. at this time the truck is about ready for paint. i got pictures here of what it started out like and i'll get more posted once i upload them, this way since i got pictures, all you professionals can tell me what i did wrong. the truck does have two ten inch subs under the stock bench seat and i plan to paint it candy apple red with black rims and maybe paint it black under that bottom body line on the truck. what do you guys think? Also i'm probabbly gonna get a double-chrome roll bar to put in the bed. Will this look good? |

That will be a beast when it's done. It looks like you have had a lot of work to do. That passenger side inner fender is horrible!! And the dash pad, WOW!!
Do you have any current pictures?

Thanks 71swb4x4, it should be a beast when it's done and thats what i'm shooting for so i can drive it to school to show off.
i'll try get some current pics tomorrow and one of these next couple of days i'm gonna paint it. i did paint it already once with some paint that was suppose to be candy red but i learned the hard way to not go cheap and get some good paint because it SUCKED! i'm paintin it now with PPG OMNI. |

Re: What do you think? started when i was 15. 72 gmc now a 72 chevy lifted
the one picture shows it with the old rochester quadrajet, i first thought i was gonna use it but later realized it was shot so i bought a new edelbrock 650cfm. also the alternator is now upgraded to a one-wire 140 amp alternator to run stuff like subs and possibly lights on the light bar.
As you can probably tell, i got a different set of fenders and inner fenders i did paint them, the cab and the rest seperate and it ended up not matching. Like i said earlier, don't buy cheap paint! And the paint was even the color i wanted! |

That's a good looking truck. Like all the other "well aged" guys.. I've had mine for 15 years and it don't look that good!! Keep up the good work!!
