Lowering block question

I was getting ready to order some 2 inch lowering blocks from cpp and they have a note saying that 2 inch blocks are not "recomended" for 15 inch wheels. Why is that?

The bottom of the u-bolts & shock plates will be lower than the lip of the wheel. If you have a blow-out while @ speed, there's a definite possibility the u-bolt & shock plate could dig-in to mother earth & ruin a perfectly good truck ('cause that's what will happen if it catches on something).

This is commonly referred to as hanging 'below the scrubline'. 1.5" blocks are about the max w/a 15" wheel. There are many that run 2" & 3" blocks & say it's not an issue; but it can happen. If you run a larger diameter wheel (17's,18's, 20's), the lip of the wheel will be below the u-bolt/shock plate & above the scrub-line.

Thanks for the help. I went out and looked at my truck and it doesn't look to me like I can use blocks at all. The bottom of the u-bolts are already pretty close to the bottom of the rim. Does this look normal?

That's stock/OE configuration. Blocks can/would go between the truck arm & the pad under the rear housing tube. It would require longer specialty u-bolts (not available @ the local parts house).

You could do 1.5" blocks & 15" rims.
