Need some quick help! (Head Gasket Question)

Morning all,

Went to put the heads back on the truck today but when I laid the head gasket on the block I noticed I was missing a hole on the rear side. It is the large rectangular one that appears to connect into the water passages. Now, the Felpro gasket numbers are the exact same (8523PT1, referenced as the required gasket by the parts shops for a 454 Chevy) but the old ones appear to have the holes. Were these spots just worn away by the action of the moving water or do I have the wrong gaskets (Which means the PO installed the wrong ones)? o.0 Head has a matching passage so I think it would be safe to assume that water does need to be moving through this area. So confused....
