frame swap
I have a 1971 c10 and a 1985 k20 frame. I want to put the 71 body on the 85 frame. They are both long beds. I would like to know if this would work and what i need to do. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hey,welcome to the site!
The cab and front clip needs a 2" body lift because the post`72 frames rise up more under the bed.The frame is longer in the front and thhe core support mounts sit forward of the pre-73s.You either need to move the mounts or drill the frame and mount through it.The front frame horns will need trimmed off.

planning for rockwells an some 48s or 52 inch tractor tires on it |

what about anyone using a mid 80s or so suburban. they are only like 2.5 inches longer than the 67-72 long beds. Id like to see if anyone has some pics of that.

thats what is used in my 68 the wheel base fits good . you ave to move cab mounts up to the top of the burban frame but other than that it works out pretty good

The cab mounts mount on the outside of the frame. The front clip has to have the mounts raised quiet a bit. Didn't use a burb frame so don't know about that. The early 80's frame will take different size spacers to make it work. Bumper to frame mounts may be a problem also. Make sure you can get the distributor out once you bolt things down.
