NP205 Speedo Question
I think I have this down, but want to make sure I'm not missing something.
My transfercase is leaking at the speedo cable, I know surprise. From reading around it seems the cure is to get a new sleeve for the speedo gear, P/N 326561. So is there any seal that goes in the top part of the speedo cable, like between the sleeve and the bell part of the cable? The reason I ask is there seems to have been some sort of seal there that got caught in the speedo cable. I don't see where else a seal would go since the flat bell end of the cable sits against the top of the sleeve. |

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
Yeah, that's the right part number. The only seal needed is the one that is attached to sleeve #326561. Good luck.

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
Hey Spudly,
So CAl is right on, I had the same leak as you and bought the #326561 sleeve and it completely fixed my leaky Tcase/speedo. It has an internal seal that keeps gear lube from getting to the speedo cable. Jeff

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
Finally got around to working on it this weekend.
Got the front output seal changed and used sealant on the bolts, there wasn't any on them when I tore it down. Put in the drive shaft I rebuilt. Then swapped out the speedo sleeve. So far no leaks whatsoever. Now I gotta clean up the driveway ![]() |

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
I went straight to the GM parts counter guy with the part number. I couldn't seem to find an online dealer that could work with that number....

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
Get 'em online from Scoggin Dickey Parts Center. For me, it was cheaper that way delivered to my door rather than messin' around at local GM dealers and paying sales tax. Good luck.

Re: NP205 Speedo Question
I bought mine using this thread's part number at the local GM parts counter and it worked like a champ. Thanks guys, the little bugger was spendy but it stopped the leak.
