292 removal
I'm in the process of removing a 292 from a 67 3/4 ton to be rebuilt and replaced, can anyone tell me the best place to mount hooks to the block to remove it from the truck?
Also I would like info on applications for an automatic with overdrive to fit behind the 292. Thanks for any help. |

Re: 292 removal
I bolted a length of chain to the front of the head, ran the chain diagonal across the head to the rear and bolted it to the rear as well. I think I used a manifold stud in the rear, and I don't remember which hole on the front passenger side of the head. Then lift from a point on the chain that best balances the motor.
I'll let someone else chime in on the transmission question... but I do know that the 292 has the same bellhousing bolt patern as a SBC, so I'd think anything that'll fit a SBC will work with a 292.
