She keeps boggin on me

Hey guys i got a 84 4x4 swb. Its got a 6" lift and some 35's. My problem is everytime i take it out to play, when i get to a decent steep hill and try going up it, it boggs out. It has a 350 with a air gap intake and a 600 cfm edelbrock carb. what can i do to the carb so it wont bogg out and where can i get it? Thanks in advance

try running the spring loaded needles and seats. those are in the "off road" carbs edelbrock makes

Re: She keeps boggin on me

it shouldnt bog that bad unless the hill is really steep. How does it run on level ground when you hammer on it from a idle? Sounds like its gettin a heavy load at a low rpm and something aint in tune

Re: She keeps boggin on me

Quadrajet's work great on steep hills and rough terrain.
I hear complaints of the edelbrock carbs not being too good on the steep stuff.
I would try the spring loaded needle like was said earlier. Also extending the bowl vent with a rubber hoze helps.

Re: She keeps boggin on me

Edelbrock makes a Quadrajet style carb with SUPER tiny primaries and HUGE secondaries that is supposed to be fantastic offroad. 4x4 magazine a few years ago said it was the next best thing to fuel injection for offroading.

Cool. Does anyone in the room have one? I'd like to know just how good they are.

Re: She keeps boggin on me

my edelbrock did perfectly fine on a near 45* slope straight up. i just put it in low range and took it kinda slow (didnt know what was on the other side of the hill) i aint even runin the spring loaded neadles and seats...

EDIT: its the standard edelbrock style not the q-jet.
