glove box door question

I was trying to put my glove box door on my 70 chevy and was wondering about the hinge pin that is also a spring. The drivers side of the door has a recess in it where the spring seems to set in but the passenger side acts like it wants to go on the outside of the door which doesn't seem right to me.I guess what I am asking is what is the proper location of these ends of the hinge. Thanks.

Re: glove box door question

The ends of the spring should be trapped between the hinge and the door on one end and the hinge and dash on the other end.
