Re: Has anyone used a sway bar from newer style truck

I just read some where on the board that the impala bars are adjustable...I'm thinking of adding a sway bar so I think I'll be doing some bone yard shopping/measureing

Check out the local "Pull-a-Part" they charged me about $15.00 for one complete with brackets. The bushings are probably good enough to use but I will be replacing them.

Re: Has anyone used a sway bar from newer style truck

Any sway bar from a 73/87 GM truck or Burb will fit. Try to find a 3/4 ton or 1 Ton truck as they have the bigger sway bars. I found mine at a wreckers and it was a 1 1/4" sway bar from a 9000 GVW Camper Special 80's Truck and installed new brackets with the polyuretnane bushing for lowered trucks from ECE and I think that is the best bang for the buck you can do to one of our trucks. I had the bar powdercoated black and with the cost of the bar , the powdercoating and new brackets and bushings I think I have about a 100.00 invested in the bar.

Ditto, I installed mine from a '86 Dually 1.25 bar for $15 at a local pick n pull.

Nice and thick, very little sway now.

X4.

I got a 1¼" bar offa '87 3/4-ton Suburban for 15 bucks at my local self-pull yard; the bar, brackets, straps, bushings, bolts and nuts (which are the good interference locking nuts too). Re-used everything.
