Like my wall hanging?

I got this neat hanging board from a store that went out of business. Ive decided to do one side of my shop with it. I was going to use peg board on the other half of that wall, but I really like this stuff and I think I have enough. Should be finished this weekend.

Re: Like my wall hanging?

Good Stuff & good use of a cheap find !!!

That product's sold under the brand name: "Slatwall." Very expensive when new. Commonly used in ladies' dress shops, department stores, etc. Lotsa hangers & accessories for it, & VERY strong for mounting heavy items to it.

My wife used it years ago when we had a retail sewing / embroidery store.

Should be plenty of it available out there, given the state of the economy now, with lotsa small retail shops folding up, sadly.

I worked 7 1/2 yrs for a manufacturer of slatwall type displays. I can't remember the load rating but with extruded aluminum inserts you can use longer arms and really load it up with multiple items. I would suggest anything heavy needs inserts or wider clips on the arms to spread the load.

I really like the clean look and strength of slatwall compared to pegboard. Awesome job on the shop.

Re: Like my wall hanging?

It came with a bunch of hooks. Pretty heavy duty ones and way too long. I cut down a bunch of em. Nothing on the wall is very heavy...the doors are just shells, and the barn doors are super light. I was a little nervous at first...lol. I was afraid to open the door the next morning.

I hope you didn't dismantel that burb just so you have something to hang on your new walls.

What is that dash? Looks kind on like a 59 or 60 Impala, but hard to tell from the angle it is sitting at in the picture.

Wall looks good, but isn't that stuff hanging on it in your way.I mean I thought you were going to put it on your truck. If you don't have time to do that I think it will fit mine. When do you want me to pick it up?J/K

Re: Like my wall hanging?

Slatwall is some pretty tuff stuff. I have hung quite a bit of it over the years. Here is one corner of a local Golf Club's Pro Shop. I don't have pics of everything, but most of the cooler or bigger stuff gets at least a few shots.
I am usually opposed to the countertop being the same color as the cabinets, but in this case, it's a retail store....so you can hardly see the top.

Not only does it look really cool, now you don't have to ask "now where did I put that...?"
