Red face Tried searching but...

all the posts are different and not all clear.

I have a 70 C20 LWB and am converting it to half ton gear using a rear axle and swapping A Arms/spindles out of a 73-87.

From what I have read I can bolt the A Arms up to my frame and crossmember with no worries, but am unclear on what else I need to change. I don't know what year the donor gear is because it was a box and rolling frame I got it off of.
I am going to buy new inner/outer tie rods and adjuster sleeves for the doner year(s), and a new idler arm, will my 70 pitman arm still work? or will the newer pitman arm bolt to my steering box? Do I need to change my center link? or can I bolt these newer parts to mine?? I am a noob to all of this but am now faced with a money and time crunch.

As for the brakes, I will figure that out later on. For now I just need it to steer so I can hang the fenders back on it and make it look more like a truck again.

If someone can give me a more in depth list of parts needed to swap and what ones I can keep, and possibly list what I need off the doner years for the brakes it would help me out so much! Thanks again guys

Re: Tried searching but...

I continued to search and found a post in the suspention FAQ which SCOTI mentioned to change the pitman arm and center link, but while looking through a MOOG parts book today at the parts store it says the center link is the same on my 70 C20 and for example a 74 C10

I am pretty sure mine has power steering, there's a pump and hoses by my steering box, do I need to swap that out with the newer year? or can I leave my pitman arm, idler arm and center link and just swap out tie rods and adjuster sleeves?

This is where the confusion comes on, some posts say you gotta swap it out, some say it works without. Any help would be sweet, the more info I gather from here the more I hope to give back at a later time.
