I made a decision on selling my truck....
Well fellas, after going to the Good Guys show this weekend, I decided that I was either way too low on the price I was thinking on my truck ($18.5K), or that there are a lot of people who have crack habits out there. I saw some outright crazy prices! But I also had some guys who evidently saw my posts out here that came out looking seriousy at my truck, and it became evident real quickly that I could have sold it for exactly what I thought about. (For you guys that I met...thanks for coming out, was great to meet you!)
So what happened??? I just couldn't do it!!! I found that I was too afraid to put it up officially for sale....b/c someone would likely have bought it. So I now have new plans...the engine and trans are now offically for sale - 454 .030 over with forged pistons, oval ports, mild cam. 200-4R Overdrive with 2200 Stall/lockup converter ($1500) - This will include everything except for the carb and AC compressor/brackets.....P/S pump and brackets, alternator, BBC frame stands, etc. are all included. I'm going with a late model 6.0, 4L80, and a little turbo....so I won't be needing this old-school stuff anymore! Hit me up in PM if you are interested....I'm going to try to leave the engine/trans in the truck as long as I can so that it's buyer can here it run first.

Oh oh, details, more please, front mount turbo, t70, whatÉ you are killing me, these new engines with a turbo, little programing a cam and springs and arp studs, handle tons of power, this is what i would have done had i not built mine, next time around i gues ,and good for you on keeping it!

Great idea not to sell it... I think you made a wise decision.

Re: I made a decision on selling my truck....
I do a lot of shows during the summer and have found the major difference between selling a truck or car is the price. A lot of guys say its for sale but the prices say no its not. A lot of dreamers. Kinda like your engine an trans Its priced right and will sell quick. You could ask $5000 for it and it would still be for sale but not gone.

Be careful..... I believe you need to be a site supporter to put up a for sale. I do see a moderator already responded so I could be way off.

I'll jump in line. How many miles since rebuild? Friendly pump-gas compression?

Re: I made a decision on selling my truck....
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunatley I didn't build the big block, it was in the truck when I bought it, so all I have to go on is what I was told by the PO. I ran the numbers on it back when I first got it....it is a 2-bolt block from 78' I believe. The heads are open chamber oval ports. I was told that it is .030 over, has forged flat tops in it, and does have a mild cam as well...around 268 advertised duration (has a pretty good sounding idle, but not too lopey). It has a painted to match Edelbrock intake on it too. It is a fairly mild combo, and is totally pump gas friendly. Doesn't run hot or anything weird like that. About like all BBC's I've had, it does drip a little oil, but not bad at all....it typically leaves a spot about the size of a dime after I drive it...I think it's coming from the pan gasket. I have no idea on total miles, but I can say that I have only put maybe 2000 on it since I've had it.
