I'm in the square body camp now

I haven't had a 73-87 in over 10 years until this one. I'm mainly a 67-72 guy and sometimes a 60-66 guy. Anyway, I needed a work truck for my welder and fabrication duties. I got this for 750 the other day. It's kind of beat, but a real stout truck. It's actually got 45k miles on it. Small block and a 4 speed engine and tranny. It's a cab/ chassis truck rather than a dually. I will get it slicked up as soon as I can but I just recently bought a Millermatic 250 MIG welder that's caused my money tree to go dormant for awhile.

I plan on scouring the parts board and Craigslist for some straighter body panels and some interior parts. I have a powdercoating shop, so as soon as I can, I will get the wheels detailed up. I already have late model center caps and lugnuts for the stock wheels. I've also got an Edelbrock intake and Carter AFB carb to put on it as soon as it stops raining here.

Yep. I'm going to wind up putting a pair of doors on it anyway. The old west coast mirrors have torn the doors where they mount. I'm checking on a pair of doors on Craigslist right now.

Re: I'm in the square body camp now

Right On!!

I have a pair of doors that need some repair, but they look better than those, from what i can see. If your craigslist deal doesn't work out, that is.

there are some pics in this thread
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=353516

you can have them if you want them

Joe, I'd like the doors. The price is much better than Craigslist doors.

Because they are a lot cheaper than the 67-72 trucks.

Re: I'm in the square body camp now

For me, it's better than a 67-72. This truck has a 14 bolt rear end. The 67-72 would have had an Eaton unit. When it comes time for brakes or repair parts, the 14 bolt is cheaper. This truck has very good disc brakes too. A 67-70 would have drums and a 71-72 dually has smaller disc brakes than these are. For my purposes, it's way ahead to buy a later truck.

Joe, sounds like you're a closet Huey Lewis fan. I was going to embed a youtube clip of that song but for some reason I can't get it to work.

Re: I'm in the square body camp now

Looks like a nice rig there! I always like seeing the dually flatbeds or welding rigs. The west coast mirrors did the same thing to my truck, the door skin around the mounting bolts has tears in it. I'm eventually gonna fix the doors 'cause they're dent and rust free.
