lots of good 81-87 Trucks in Scrap Yards
Ok I travel the US for my job and I just found out That about 60 days into the Cash For Clunkers program they had to change the rules for scrapping because all of the yards refused to take in the cars and not make any mone on parts and have to pay their guys hourly to blow up the motors and trans
The good right now in every major city there are alot of our belove square bodies with good parts on them The bad they can only sell the parts for 6 months after that they are getting squished like a pancake So lets all go and raid the scrap yards and find us and others good parts |

Re: lots of good 81-87 Trucks in Scrap Yards
I have had some luck finding several trucks/blazers/suburbans in my local salvage yards. Brought home a few parts so far.
I have heard the same from the desk guys at the yards I've been to as well, that they are supposed to crush after the 6 months on the lot. Actually went to one yard yesterday intending to pull some parts from a truck I saw the previous weekend, and found it already crushed. Guess I was too late. For me, the yard I usually go to, hadn't kept the older vintage vehicles around prior to the CFC program, so being able to find parts there has been convenient. I suppose once the current inventory cycles thru the crusher, they will go back to focusing more on late-model vehicles.

Re: lots of good 81-87 Trucks in Scrap Yards
Went by one of the local u pullits last week and this weekend, "scoping" things out.
There used to be 30 vehicles in the "staging" area, now there are like 300, one mint 88-91 FS blazer with a very nice front end, no dings or scratches, also no power mirrors I'll be going back saturday to see if they have released it to the yard. About a handful of square bodies in the area as well. Now is the time to hoard parts if you have the room for them.

DO NOT turn this in to a political discussion. I will lock it and issue infractions.

Sorry, went back to delete it, but you took care of it. I didn't think before I posted, I'll not let it happen again.
