Post peaceful work

after spending half of the night redoing the braking system.
i realized that working on these older trucks can put a guy in peace with everything and everybody. around you knowing the project you/or somebody else is working on is slowing getting better you might find me crazy but after buying my first truck and spending time on it im actually a better person.

Is that strange or what?

Red face Re: peaceful work

I have to agree. Even getting in there and sanding a few parts, or twisting a few bolts, makes my whole day better. I guess it's a man thing. Take it apart, put it back together. Bliss.

Re: peaceful work

even though i enjoy the work im trying to be careful also.
as i found out i have the 50th anniversary truck. im putting in a new bed floor and a new chrome bumper and tires.
im using prime well 235 70R 15 as mine has 6 lug Chevy rally's. i would like to trade these to get the original steel rims like it had from the factory. im trying to keep it as original as possible.

Re: peaceful work

That's the only reason I do this stuff. It's also the only reason my shop is off limits to visitors while I'm working sometimes. I need to be alone and get some therapy.

Re: peaceful work

I wouldn't say that I am a better person, but working on old iron definitely puts me in a good mood.

I have realized recently that I get a lot of satisfaction in starting with something that is unusable and making changes so that it is useful.

Re: peaceful work

peacefull,, Sometimes in my shop an I feel anything but that. Like when I brake a bolt and take half the skin off my knuckles on a sharp object next to it. Or when I remove a rusty part only to find more rust... Just kidding realy, I do enjoy working on these trucks. WES

Re: peaceful work

It is very therapeutic, gets my mind off of all the crap I have to deal with at work.
