72 caliper trouble???

So I've got her running, and have everything else done on the truck. So I go to bleed the front brakes cuz it's the last thing I need to do, and I can't get the damn bleeder screw out. It's rusted shut. So I go down to Kragen's and get 2 new calipers. Turns out the end of the flexible hose to the caliper has a square end on the original one. The new calipers have round end fittings. So I'm just curious, because I'm out of money because I was expecting it to be the same, does anyone know where I can get the original style calipers online? The hoses are perfectly good so It's kind of frustrating that they changed it like that.

They must have given you 73-80 calipers. They are the same other than the hose area. Here's a pic that I took awhile back.

Re: 72 caliper trouble???

I exchanged mine for rebuilt ones from carQuest and haven't had any problems on my 3/4 truck.

Wow, thanks for the pic. I actually just ended up going at them with a saw zaw and making them work. Had just enough time to get the right side on and check to make sure it didn't leak or nothing. Worked great. not planning on it being permanent tho. Im not so sure about them giving me 73 and later ones. I worked at kragens and the local shop lets me look up my own parts so I'm the one who looked up the number under '72 c10. I even called a buddy at Napa auto parts and got the same deal. I think they must have updated to the new ones. Oh well, I got them cut and sanded and they work for now. Thanks for the help tho. I'm still pretty pissed about it.

Re: 72 caliper trouble???

Don't be surprised at anything you find on these old trucks. It's been a lot of years and lot's of people have worked on them and there are bound to be a few parts on em that have been used in a pinch or substituted and such.
They're sometimes a big ol puzzle. And you found a way to make the hoses work too.
