87 resto/build

I'm pretty new here but wanted to share and gather input for my 87 pu build. I've had the truck almost 2 years now. It has been good to me but is starting to show it's age, motor somkes a bit under acceleration, few oil leaks and the trans is acting up. It's going to be more of a mall cruiser with a few trips down very light trails. It is just too nice a truck as a whole to wheel it hard.

Here are some current specs:
swb,350,700r4,np208
new tierod ends and pitman arm
new dual exhaust
New brake system including extended ss braided hoses
2" lift
new shocks and steering stabalizer
new radiator
Swapped factory 3.08 axles for junkyard 3.73 axles
aux battery tray
homebrew brush guard

Future plans:
2.5" shackle flip
add second battery
remove brushguard
add 1" zero rates front and rear
put on some 33"s
replace the rest of the bushings
add sport rear bumper
fix the few rust spots it has
paint and body work
update frontend to 89-91 style
replace all outside rubber
freshen up interior
continue to clean and paint undercarriage
replace trans and motor
whatever else I come up with

Re: 87 resto/build

**Update**

Progress has been slow but here is the few things I've gotten done. Head gasket popped so I had the heads redone, replaced the egr valve, ORD steering brace, scavanged the rest of the serpentine conversion parts(not installed yet), got the 2.5" shackle flip and longer rear shocks(not installed yet). Working on getting the zero rates and u-bolts, then installing the suspension parts. After the suspension I'm going to start on the interior.

Hey sweet looking truck. Looks like its in great shape to start out with at least. Going to look bad when you get it lifted I just love any Chevy or GMC 4x4 lifted . Keep up the good work and post some more pics when u get time.

Re: 87 resto/build

Got the all the parts to do the 89-91 front end swap today. Well, everything except the grill cause it was a GMC. Going to clean everything up and get it ready to go on when I do the serpentine conversion.
