Body mount question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My bumper install has stalled. First the specs. 1/2 ton 70 GMC LWB. The bumper and brackets came from 3/4 ton 69 GMC. The problem is that the bracket will not go into the frame. The bed hangs down a little over the C-channel opening. Is this due to thinner body mount bushings on the 1/2 ton? Or are my bushing just squashed?

I read what I could from a search, there was a lot about cab mounts, but nothing on bed mounts.
