HELP!!! need paint codes for my 72 C20!!! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Moderators move if necessary, but does anyone have the correct dupont single stage paint codes for my 72 C20??? My uncle has fixed the deer damage from last summers accident, but is having a heck of a time finding the right codes.... I have a pic of the spid and it just shows "14811D Med/White Blue/White"... Also here's a pic of the truck also.... Thanks in advance...

take it to a body shop and have them use a "Color Camera" Trust me, it is worth your time to do that. It will match the paint up to whatever the camera sees and will come up with the correct paint combination in several configurations as far as basecoat/clear or single stage. They use these for auto damage cars when only a panel or 2 need painted and it matches fading of paint and so on a lot better than just some fresh new paint. Hope this helps, Trevor

For single stage though, I have seen a lot of guys in the past use Hawaiian Blue, but like I said, try to get someone to take a paint camera over one of the existing blue areas and it should come out better than using the color coded paint.

The blue is 510 medium blue and the PPG number is 2188. The white is 521 or PPG 2185. Those two colors make up the 481 paint code listed on your SPID. Your local automotive paint store shouldn't have any trouble crossing that number to a dupont code. I had a local company (PPG) mix a single stage blue and I was amazed at how well it matched.

Here is the Dupont chart up on Ebay. Can't make out the blue code because of his sample text. You might send him a note, he may tell you what the blue code is.
