Got my chassis rolling at least...

Got my chassis almost buttoned up enough to get it back to the paint shop. I think it turned out really well and is all nice an fresh. Of course after the first month of driving it won't matter but it looked go going out of the shop!

Good work, very nice! How long did it take you to get to this point?

Btw, can you provide wheel details (make, model, size, ect).

That is one great looking chassis! Those wheels look like 20s, what size and brand are those tires?

rears are 295-45-20 with 5" bs. 20x10 wheel (barely fit)

Re: Got my chassis rolling at least...

Wheels are Coys, 20X10"(5" backspace) rear and 20X8.5" front(4.5" backspace)

Wheels are BF Goodrich KDW 295/40/20 rear 245/40/20 front.

I'm doing the work at my Dad's shop which is 90 miles away. That means weekends only. I've got probably 3-4 weekends into it. Building the C notch and the rear shock mount took the longest. If I had a bandsaw to cut out the shock brackets and plates that box the frame it would have saved a bunch of time.

I still have to take out a leaf in the rear and mount the over-the-leaf bag but will wait until I have the body back on so I can know true ride height.

Started one but think it was in the wrong area. I'll start one and get some more pics up.

Re: Got my chassis rolling at least...

Thanks for the info on the tires, I am also working on a chassis and plan to run that tire set up ( I already have the grey coys, but my front ones have a deeper backspace 5.5 ) are you sure you wont be getting any rubbing from your front wheel tire set up? 4.5 backspacing seems risky to me, specially with a bagged suspension...just wondering.

We'll see I guess. I double checked and the front is 4 3/4" backspacing and I have CPP's modular dropped spindles which bring it in. Here's a pic before I sent it to paint with the bags deflated.

I'm mounting the sending units in the cab so they are just mocked up. The tank, valves, and compressor will be on the frame.

Re: Got my chassis rolling at least...

Jason Voth at Resurrection Paint in Noble. It's where you turn to go to Thunder Valley if you're familiar with the area. He's just doing the sheet metal though.

I'm doing the paint for the frame/engine.

Re: Got my chassis rolling at least...

Man that's a nice chassis and I'm sure the truck will be as well. I like that color on the cab and clip (not so much on the bed ).

Is that an aftermarket battery box or something you made? If it's aftermarket who's is it?

It's just the factory battery box with a piece of angle iron bolted to the frame. I may redo it with some 1" square tubing but once the sheetmetal is on, you'll never see it anyway.
