DIY4X disc brake brackets

hi guys. its time to up grade my brake system so i figure a good start would be a rear disk conversion on my FF14bolt. I have been looking at various brakets on the market and seem to keep coming back to DIY4x products. anybody care to post opinions on who and what or throw me some suggestions. also on the table will be the need for a new brake booster and mc. I am currently searching the site for this info and i assume i will need to start a new post for that. i would like a small diameter one ton booster so i can pull the driver's side valve cover without having to remove the booster from the firewall. suggestions??

thanks for your time. -steve

Re: DIY4X disc brake brackets

The brackets from Ruff Stuff Specialties are the only ones I will buy they are only $60 shiped to your door and they are bent so there is no need for spacers to make them line up correctly.

Re: DIY4X disc brake brackets

I haven't bought those brackets (yet) but I have bought other stuff from DIY, and all I can say is their stuff is top quality and their customer service is excellent. I usually look to them first.

Re: DIY4X disc brake brackets

i gather the bent tabs are for the calipers to line up correctly with the rotors? other wise the bracket needs to be shimmed?? this must be why i see some brackets with the additional round ring included or shims machined onto the bracket around every mounting hole i guess.

i've heard a lot of good things about DIY4X's products which lead me to consider them.

have you guys found any pros or cons to running either the bent brackets versus brackets using spacers?

Re: DIY4X disc brake brackets

I have a set of the DIY4X brackets here for my project, along with some of their spring mounts. Top quality stuff. I have made brackets like those to put disk brakes on my Corvair, they cost more to make and werent any better looking.

I've heard a lot of great talk about DIY's products and will probably go this route very soon. I would like to purchase their FGB52 kit also but am unsure if i want the truck sitn that high. I clear my 35's fine but don't stop them very well.

that's a great looking set up msgross! I'm unsure if i want to do a small diameter booster system like his 9" or dive into a hydroboost system. just another project im on the fence with. I should start a new thread and call it Steve's on the fence. Then next year after weighing the pro's and con's i could maybe start my project. Or not, im unsure.

Re: DIY4X disc brake brackets

or you could be like some of us and buy both setups, then decide on a third later!
