overdrive transmissions in 4x4 c20

whats the best option. im wanting the gas milage but would need something to hold up to a built 350 and heavy hauling occasionally. i would also like to keep my np 203 transfer case just to save money but wouldnt be opposed to an upgrade on it either.

a 4l60 and a 208 for a th350 mate together seemlessly and the 4l60 will take a built 350

What side does that 208 drop? Is it push button shift (TC) or shift lever?

Thanks

Re: overdrive transmissions in 4x4 c20

208 is passanger side drop out of the 80's body trucks, the shifter is on the floor. If you use this make sure you get one from a th350 or 700r4 and get the adapter also. The 4l60 will not shift without a computer but the conversion computers are rather cheep these days. The case from a 88-91 full size blazer(241 iirc) will also work, but it has an electronic speedo . so it is a perfect choice for someone who is going to straight axle a truck from 88-curent that has a 4l60.
