A local car show...pix
Here's a few pix from a local car show put on by the Dixie Car Club in Benton, AR. A few trucks were in attendance and heres some of them. The 73-87 is what I call Gaudy. The red 88-98 was nice at one time, but has been rode hard and put up wet. He's running a SuperSlam air ride on it and the bed is a work in progress. The 88-94 Work Truck is also glammed-up, like putting lipstick on a hockey puck. Finally, there's a 49-54 Studebaker milk truck. Last time I saw it, it was sitting next to a highway about 30 miles away. I thought, "Gee, that would make a neat street rod".

Re: A local car show...pix
As for #1 and #3, somebody needs to put away the LMC catalog and go sit in the corner.

I agree the Studebaker is too unproportioned. Would look good chopped.
Do you have pics of any of the other cars. Looks like I saw a nice Camaro back there in the Studebaker pic. |

Re: A local car show...pix
I took about 50 photos, but only posted these after re-sizing them. At the moment, we can't post pix until Josh says the server is good to go.
There were a few Camaros there, also with some Vettes. There was a 25th Anniversary coupe there that had 600 original, documented miles. The vehicle that was remarkable to me was one that I never new existed...a '41 Ford that was one of about 250 that FoMoCo sold with an 8N tractor engine in place of the inline 6 or the flathead V8. At the same time, it lends some credence to the 8Ns that were sold with flathead V8's, which also happened. Best of show was a 1929 Cord FWD with a Lycoming straight 8, Woods headlights and an incredible degree of "presence".

Re: A local car show...pix
When men get old and have no taste in their decor....that's what their trucks look like. The white square body had an owner who has to be at least 70.
Bad thing is that just a few years older than me. As for my LMC catalog..... Except for the crashbook-like illustrations, it has no use.

Re: A local car show...pix
Yeah, you're right. LMC has some usable stuff. I think I just fell into the crowd. I don't shop for those JCWhitney-ish items and there is no Pep Boys near me to visit. WalMart, AutoZone, etc., have "dress up" stuff that I avoid, too.
LMC serves a large audience. Their stuff isn't what shows on those trucks. Thanks for a dose of reality.

Re: A local car show...pix
Yeah, Lund is a dirty word as far as I'm concerned...sorry, but unless your truck was built before 1955 or so, it shouldn't have a windshield visor on it.
