Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
Are you fellas that have 406 engines running dual fans and clutch fan or whats your setup for cooling? We all know these motors can run a little hotter and with the money i have already put in it i cant afford any problems.

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
I dont have a fan clutch..I have a dual flexalite with an aluminum griffin radiator. In the miami heat with the a/c running does not go past 170 degrees.....
here is their website http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/index.html I dont have the exact part number of mine here at the momnet but I could get it for you by monday.... Here is the website for the radiator http://www.northernfactory.com/aboutus.html my understanding is that this company makes the radiators for Griffin Radiators.......

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
^ I agree. I cant wait to fire mine up either. Just spent 5 months waiting on the deal to go thu to get my Pro Cool Aluminum radiator with a electric fan. I saved a gob of money so it was worth the wait. Now it will take a lil bit of fabrication to get it in, soon as I have time for that it will be runing. I had the stock radiator but didnt even want to mess around with it. Know these things are said to run hot so I have been patiently waiting to do it right the first time. What kinda power yours put out?

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
With all my componets i had the engine builder run the dyno program on his computer and it should make 550-560 horses. I have spent thousands on parts and plan on having it balanced. It should be sick...........

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
I just used a new 4 core stock radiator and factory clutch fan, and have no overheat problems at all, even when driving in 100+ Texas heat.

That is awesome, definetly they make some power for a small block. I am thinking about building a 68 c10 and if I do I am going to put an ls3 in that one and possibly go with a super charger, right now nothing is concrete is just in my head will see.

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
my 72 burb (3/4 ton 2ws) has a 307 with the 3OT. i will eventually be putting in a 406 that we had briefly in my dad's 84 burb for towing duties. i am upgrading to a 4 row radiator really soon and will be using the factory fan or the flex fan out of the 84. if you run a 180 t-stat and use an oil cooler you should be good if everything is fresh and in good working order. the 84 had a factory oil cooler and i plan to adapt the trans cooler in the radiator for that task for simplicity on my 72 burb since it has a manual trans and no need for the trans cooler otherwise.

I would like to see it as well al. Always loved your truck ne way. Even more now that I heard, that. See your build sheet and compare it mine see how similar they are, or where I need to make improvement. Think there is an old post on here with mine let me see....
here it is...long time ago hard to find. In that post I said I would have the radiator that weekend Just finally got it a week ago! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=3331125

Re: Hey big-al-71 or whoever has a 406
Todd i ant remember the name of the program. The engine builder has it on his computer. I will ask him and get back to you. I do know it set him back to buy it. According to him (32 years of building) there are cheap programs out there but they don't work out properly. Sweet part is that this guy lives within shouting distance.
