Opinon needed

So, when I removed one of the rocker panel I found more rust...whoda thunk...other than most everyone on this board

Do I need to replace the A & B piller pieces?

Carefully inspect the A and B pillars. If there is an excessive amount of paint blistering or craters in the paint you've got a problem. Usually it's the bottoms of the doors, around the windshield, door jams, floor pan, kick panels, cab corners and cowl that rust out.

Re: Opinon needed

Well, under where the rocker panel covers the a & b pillers are rotted out, but I'm not sure if most people replace these or just cover them.

Cut all that stuff out and replace it now while you're in there, you don't want to get back in there again, trust me.

Re: Opinon needed

I would also look into the outer cab floor piece that runs from front to back, then hit the cab corner too... That's all shot and the parts aren't that much...

Right on ..... If you take short cuts now ypu will pay later. It might be a pain now but in the long run you will be glad you cut out all the rusted areas.

Re: Opinon needed

Yeah, I'm thinking I should just replace them. I have the outer floor extention already. I just need the A & B piller pieces and I'll be good. I would agree that I don't want to take any shortcuts. I want this truck to be nice and outlast me

Re: Opinon needed

You might also need the front and back cab supports (outriggers) that connect to the back of the A and B pillar...

Our sire vendors can hook you right up with the right parts, these are cheap areas as well..

Re: Opinon needed

Yeah, the front cab support is definitely shot, so I was planning on replacing that.

Re: Opinon needed

Don't forget to order the kick panel repair piece, for the interior side of the lower a-pillar.
