Vent windows
I was putting the truck back together (72 GMC) When putting the vent windows, even all fasten in there, a small hole in the area at the very top. top of vent window where it and door meet in the corner. I've never seen one thats like this.

Re: Vent windows
with Rack Man.
I've re-read three times and I cannot see the question. Seems to be some issue with the top of the vent window? Please try again. |

Re: Vent windows
I know it's hard to understand without pictures, but now that I think of it, the very tip of the vent window rubber ( the tip thats pointing straight up) may have be missing or cut off. This guy that done the rubber may have cut it off.

Re: Vent windows
There is a screw hole at the top of the door on a 71-72 chevy truck.....the doors are different on these years then on the other years. It is for extra support for the vent window, if I'm not mistaking....someone correct me if I'm wrong.
http://www.classictrucks.com/tech/07...ors/index.html Go to that page and read about it. You'll see the screw on the second page of pictures. |

Re: Vent windows
Your right about the screw,When I bought my truck it was 80% finnish and the screw was long gone, and the vents windows, so these had to be bought. I should have bought new ones. As for the screw they make the doors stronger if they were in place. I don't think it would fill the little hole at the top of the vent. May have to live with it.

Re: Vent windows
A year or so ago I talked to an ol man that worked at the Chevy truck plant in STL. He said that screw addition was there to help in internal assembly of the doors on the assy line. He worked the door line for like 3 years at the plant.
