Well if any of you read my thread on the 63, you saw my deliema. The power piston rod broke when trying to brad it. anywho, a buddy of mine said that hes got a carb he pulled off a 6cyl off an old chev. the numbers read 7003536-0-34 and the things i found say its a 57. Will this carb fit on my 63 and work?
if it will then i think its worth the 30 bucks.

This is a one-barrel, I take it? If the linkage connections work - you're gold.

yeah thats the thing, he's from another forum, so i dont have it in my hand.

But the monojet was the same from like what 47-70 something, so it should fit

A picture would do wonders - or at least some carburetor base measurements and the distance between the mounting bolt hole centerlines.

I would have thought yours would be a model B with the monojet coming later. I suspect they have the same base.

well the carb was replaced at some time cause its actually an older carb.
its a monojet, like 67 or so.
i didnt realize it till i had it off and napa was looking up the numbers

I think you can buy a rebuilt model B at Advance or NAPA for less than $100

stud holes are 3" center to center

and its a I6
i cant remember the numbers, its been a while, but its bigger than the 250, whatevers next

If it is a '63, it is either a 230 or a 292. the 292 will have side covers that are about 7" tall. The 230 side covers will only be about 4" tall.

Easiest solution - warranty - bolt it on and go, unless you want to try to get a rebuild kit and do it yourself - maybe ending up messing with it for weeks to get it running correctly.

its a 292

i meant 230 when i tyepd that earlier.
And i guess buying one would always work, but the truck is a piece,

and dont really know if its worth restoring, but i'd be fun to ride around in so the cheepest solution is best for me .

I'm pretty sure if the linkage is correct and it'll bolt to your intake manifold then it will work fine. They used the Model B(which is what you have) for many years.

Actually I believe the 292 had a larger version of the Model B, but I'm using the standard one on my 292 and I just had to re-jet it. Works great.

The carb I used came off a 230, so I drilled the jet out to richen the mixture. I can't remember exactly what size I drilled it to though. For some reason .067" rings a bell? Not sure exactly, that number may be way off. But if you end up drilling it too big you can solder it shut and re-drill it.

I had originally bought a Monojet from AutoZone, and it gave me fits. Everytime the nose of the truck was low, either going down a steep hill, or even slowing to a stop, the idle would drop and if I tried to brake hard it would actually kill the engine. I moved the float every which direction, adjusted everything in the dang thing, and NOTHING phased the problem AT ALL. I gave up, yanked that AutoZone POS off and put on an old Model B I had laying around, jetted it, rebuilt it, and its been perfect for 5,000 miles.

thats my carb that i screwed up.

Oh that's the one you have? I thought the other picture was the one you have now. Oh well, doesn't make a difference, but the one you have now is a Monojet, the earlier pic is a Model B.

While I'm not positive, I think the monojet replaced the model B in 1968, so either would be period correct, but It think the model B would be the factory correct one.

I rebuilt mine for about $12. I think it took about 5 min.

I got the rebuild kit from autozone. It was a B.

ok ten max. I think there was about 4 parts.

All I really needed was the acc. pump. It's like a ball, a couple gaskets, the acc pump seal and a spring. Oh, and a little piece of paper for setting the floats.
