71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
I'm going to go look at this 71 I found on CL. It says right on the spid, "marker lamps". I know you could special order all kinds of combinations back in the day. This I would think is a strange option for a c-10. Would this be a c-20 or c-30 cab that was moved to the c-10 line? Are the cab mounts the same for the c-10, 20, 30? For some reason I was thinking they were different mounts. What do you all think? any opinions on this trucks options? It also has a spotlight, and had dealer a/c. The a/c is gone, but owner has the paperwork stating a/c was on it. Just thought it might be a pretty cool truck to use for a daily.

Re: 71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
the spid has the VIN which says it's a half ton truck.
It was never a common option for a half ton truck, but it was in fact an option... as seen on that SPID |

Re: 71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
Adding the marker lamps to the mirrors and heavy rear spring, the original owner probably planned on towing something, or had a camper in the bed.

Re: 71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
Thanks LM, I was hoping you would chime in.
I was reading a thread just this morning about a sweet 68 gold/white custom camper. There were some cab mounts comments about the difference between c10-20, 30 mounts being different. Not ever owning a 20-30 I didn't even know there were different cab mounts. Question is: would this have in fact been a 20-30 cab that was moved to the 10 line. And if that is the case, were the 20-30 mounts used for this truck. Just curious about the way it would have come down the line for assembly. Thanks. |

Re: 71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
My 71 1/2 ton Cheyenne had a similar spid. 402 BB, heavy rear springs, marker lights, auxillary gas tanks. I imagine these trucks were built for towing. I'm pretty sure the cab on that truck is the factory and not swapped.

Re: 71 c-10 w/cab marker lights
the cabs are the same, the mount defferences in the cab mounts are due to the frame.
Not all one tons had the marker/ID lights on top... mine is one of them. They were only required when dual rear wheels were ordered. Since the cabs are the same, and all the trucks came down the same assembly line, the cab was not pulled from a one ton for this truck. |
