Re: Radiator Core support question

Totally different in the headlight area. The 69-72 units have buckets for the headlight assembly to sit into, versus the 67-68 having no buckets.

Re: Radiator Core support question

So, that's why you have to take the buckets off your 71 and install on the 67-68 ? I'm changing my front end on my 71 to a 68 and was wondering why the 71 support wouldn't work with the 68 sheetmetal ?

Re: Radiator Core support question

I will add my info on this. I have a later year on mine. The only thing I can tell you is that 67-68 headlight mount is part of the core itself, the later ones have buckets and stick out a few inches more. This is why my truck is bug eyed right now. Don’t shortcut this one unless you don’t care about the looks, I can’t even put on the headlight bezel on because the screwed on headlight buckets stick out too far and are not strait. So I got one light pointing down and the other is kind of strait.

Re: Radiator Core support question

This only applies if you’re going to 67-68 grills from later years. I my experience it don’t work very well.

Re: Radiator Core support question

Plus the 67-68 ones have a row of weldnuts across the bottom for the lower grille splash panel to bolt into.

Re: Radiator Core support question

Thanks guys, mine has the nuts on the front which is different from my 71, so now I'm sure I have the correct one. Now , are the hood hinges the same on the two or are they different?
