raced a 75 stepside saturday................
this kidd that runs around town i havent seen in awhile pulled me over saturday to show me the truck he bought. pretty nice swb stepside. he pulled the 6 out and rebuilt the trans and put a fresh 350 with all the trimmings , vortecs ,comp 270, headmans , rpm air , 670 avenger , nice.
he was telling me how he was beating lightnings and cobra mustangs , how the truck was running 380hp - 430 in the tourque department. sounded good. then he asked me if i wanted to race , well ya . I told him because he didnt have a stall converter , and he had 3.08 gears i would run him off a roll. So we shot up the road a bit a let traffic clear , ran her up to 35 in first and he dropped the hammer , i jumped on it at the same time and pulled right passed him , hit second , pulled another half a car , hit third , and shut them down. I never saw such a discusted look on someone face. i bursted his bubble big time. all the way shortbox |

First off, the kid was full of it. He should have had more like 375hp and 400lbs/ft. Second off, the 03 cobra's can run 12's with a nice set of slicks. He wasent beating any of those.
This just goes to show what a properly setup combo can do. Your gears and convertor were well matchd to your cam

I told him to go home and get the converter , gears , and by the time he gets that in , I'll have my 100 of nitrous in and he still wont touch me. (i was talking a little trash , but the truth )
Maybe a lightning or two also. I've seen them run at the local track 13.20's , I'll be getting there this summer. |

This Burb I bought Friday brings out the "bad bad man" in me. DAMN the 454 will pull hard off the line. It's a Grampa special. 88 2500 with the pizza pan hub caps and 235/85x16 E series Michelins, 3.73 and TH400. Blue over white. Travel trailer land tug that I bought just to do that. This morning on the way to work I just about put some punk in a Honda civic with a Fart pipe in the ditch. Intersection near my house there is a lane that continues across the intersection that really should be a right turn only lane. Well folks like getting over there and then when the light turns green they jump traffic. Not today! Kid is ready to go...blipping the throttle on his Throbbing 4cyl. He's looking at the Burb like no contest. I could see the light for the other direction. I see yellow come up, Nobody in the oncoming left trun lane to trip the left turn arrow. Stand on the brakes let them big HUGE drums on the 14 hold it while I load the converter up to about 1500 RPM. Light changes, Punk gooses it, I get off the brakes and give and start laying into the throttle. His lane is running out quick and hes still staring at the 235/85 out the drivers window and 20ft of Burb that at this point is looking really big compaired to his 12ft econo. He finnal slamed on the brakes and dropped in behind me. He was a little miffed to loose a drag race to a 6,000lb barge! LOL.
