From CG's to Mine

Well a couple of months ago CG and I made a deal of me trading my 41 Caddy for his 71 4x4 1/2 ton.
I knew that the truck was going to need some repairs and what was needed was very little. Fixed some leaks in the power steering, rebuilt the transmission and put new bearings in the front and rear axles just because I wanted it reliable not that it need them.
Then off to the body shop for a quick repair. Nothing major just new rockers, kick panels and some minor dings and small dents. Well five weeks later I brought her home. I think the oh bye the ways got out of hand on my part. But it did turn out great.
Now all I need to do is put in the floor mat, hook up the heater cables, and install the sun visors.
Pictures below:
1. Leaving CG's with the truck
2. Almost down to the frame rebuild
3. Reassembly
4. More assembly
5. Finally done and home.

I had no idea that it was only a couple of months turn around from acquisition to completion. Talk about motivated. Maybe I'll see it this weekend?

Ill trade you a 41 Cadillac for it. Nice job Dennis, Im glad the ol girl went to a better home and got the build up she deserved.

And yes the nose is slightly up...Looks mean, but someone is having a little trouble seeing over the hood, LOL.

Re: From CG's to Mine

I love that first picture, you can see CG's fabulous "Monroe Patina" in many spots. By cab and bed had that look when I got them also. Stupid pigeons!!!!

I like your flat bed with the sides on it. I think all of the times I have seen it they have not been on. Both trucks look great.

Do you have a picture of the original dash paint?

Eric, I scrubbed and scrubbed to get that crap off the burb, ended up having to use 180 on a d.a. to get it off, and there was still some there after that!

Re: From CG's to Mine

Thanks for all the nice comment about the truck. To get the truck done so quick was just a fluke. He had a couple of weeks with no jobs scheduled and wanted the car that I was trading for the paint job. His first car was also a 47 Plymouth.
Maybe the bird dung was the reason he strip the paint down so far CG.
