Re: Torque Converter

since you went into such great detail about the cam, you wont need any, stock is fine.

Re: Torque Converter

Well if I could see it, then I could tell you more about it! I just got the truck. All I know about the motor is that its a 350 Crate motor. When it sets at Idle, you can here it lobe pretty good.

Re: Torque Converter

I have a mild 350 with a 700r4 and a 3:42 rear in my 64... The stock converter is perfect for my driving habits with this truck..

that still means absolutely nothing, what i think lopes heavy others think is mild and what i think is mild others think is radical.

unless its is some wicked spanky crate motor a stock will be more than enough.

since its a crate why not look up the specs from gm?

Re: Torque Converter

Strut,
what's the idle rpm in gear with the current set up? Also try and hook up a vacuum gauge and get some reading in idle and park. Don't pay too much attention to harsh coments.

In gear, with the break on....it idles 500rpms or so. Ah, I dont pay much attention to "Morons"!

Sounds like you have the same problems I'm having.
It was recommended to me to get a 2400 stall...

Re: Torque Converter

If you have a shop in your town that rebuilds torque converters they should be able to loosen up your existing converter to @2000rpm for about half the price of buying a new one and still have the lock up feature. That's what I did to the one in my 700R4.

Re: Torque Converter

I have the exact same set up, well, I'm not sure what you really mean by mild cam, but I have a 3000 stall with lock up and love it. But if your cam isn't to radical you could run a 2500 or so.
