Newbie Check in
Just found this forum, decided I need to sign up and not be just a lurker...lol
Well a little about me, I'm a retired Master Auto Tech, I've got a couple of old trucks that have been in the family for about 30-35 years. one is a 67 long step with a 250 6 cyl. and a 3 spd, just a all around dependable work truck, it has had numerous things done to it....rebuilt motor, big radiator, HEI ign., front suspension has been built, brakes and so on. Ex Plumbing truck that my Dad had for Plumbing another one is a 68 long step, 325 hp 350, 4 spd, 3" exhaust, HEI Ign. power steering...etc Ex Green Chili Farm Truck and another is a 65 Suburban K-10 292 6 4spd. cam 4.11 gears Ex Mountain Truck....semi retired for my 89 K2500 Suburban Now is the time to start on the cosmetics...good ol paint and body work as all of these trucks have been work horses all of their lives, so now comes the part of life for them that has more TLC in it than pushing or pulling down trees, hauling a bed full of cast iron pipe on a daily basis. Looking forward to being around here and for anyone's help and input, will post up pics later on. Dave

Re: Newbie Check in
Hey Jsb gump, thanks for the welcome, pretty funny, the 67 I own came from White Settlement, it was owned by a plumbing company there for it's first 4 years of life.
I was born and raised in Ft. Worth. 70cstjr, I did have a 69 Long Step, sold it 2 yrs ago, it was a 3/4 ton, when I got it, it still had split rims and the front tires were original, the rears were quickly changed to mud tires after they brought it home from the dealer, it was another farm truck and actually had not seen the pavement since it was new at the dealer, and they drove it to the ranch.....cool truck, but it beat me to death, the suspension was so stiff....oooo man it was rough without having a load, so it road with a couple hundred pounds in the bed. Thanks for the welcome....Will post up some pics later, nothin fancy just good ol work trucks. Dave

Re: Newbie Check in
Welcome aboard!
Is it true NM is loaded with old trucks just sitting in the desert waiting for someone to adopt them?

The 69 I was referring to, was a ranch truck all it's life, the rancher died, it was sold in the estate sale to me, if I hadn't purchased it they were gonna pancake her. Just like the 67, they were gonna sell it to the scrapper, at 4 years old, they felt in their biz that a truck was no good after 4 years....amazing. Just get on the back roads here and start lookin in backyards and the fields, if your in the city, it's not real easy to get a good deal, but out in the sticks, you can pick em up cheap, BUT most are the LWB.
