Any pics of 88-98 stepside bed on 81-87 C-10???

I am looking for pics and info of a 88-98 chevy stepside bed on a 81-87 c-10. I had one saved and must have deleted it, I have seen plenty of 62-72 with them on there. thanks for any help.

Subscribing.

I'm a huge fan of the GMT400 stepside box on a 67-72. The way the features at the top of the cab/top of the fender and at the base of the cab/box line up - they look like they were designed at the same time.

I don't believe I've ever seen a 400 box on a 73-87, though....

...not sure it would look quite as good.

Hopefully someone will have one so we can see!

Re: Any pics of 88-98 stepside bed on 81-87 C-10???

A quick search revealed these two threads:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=346085

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=329626

Bottom line - It sounds like you and I are in the minority...

Most of the guys are throwing up on the idea.

I still say, when it's well executed, I really like the concept.

Keith those are not good examples of opinions. Most of the 67-72 guys bash the look because the wheel wells don't match.

I have seen pics of the 88-98 bed on 73-87 and it wasn't too bad of a fit.

In my mind the later 99 up bed might look better.

Re: Any pics of 88-98 stepside bed on 81-87 C-10???

Ive never been a big fan of the swap. Although I did have a pic of a nice black stepsides that had a newer bed on it... Anyhow, now that I see it from the side in in TC's shot, Im thinking it might not look so bad, as long as you shaved the moulding channel. Anyone able to photoshop that change? It looks like the lines would line up pretty well after that.

The front step needs some attention. From the side it looks like a good fit. If you look down the body the curve of the step sticks out at the bottom as the contour isn't the same.

Re: Any pics of 88-98 stepside bed on 81-87 C-10???

I think that if some one were to go to the trouble of changing the contours of the body to line up, make the wheel wells match, and somehow incorporate a matching body line into the bed it would look pretty good on either generation truck. Usually, I think they look pretty terrible because nobody does those things.

On a side note, the chop on that truck above is whack. Also looks to be the wrong bumper.

I agree I found this one yesterday also, and I wouldnt be able to stand the look from the front! I may stick to trying to find a original stepside. I found one out in WY in damn near new condition but cant locate the owner to buy it!!!!. the search will continue.

I agree - those are not very good examples.

I hadn't really thought about the wheelwells not matching (I love the round openings on the 67-72) because I was more focused on the body side contours compared to the box. I can see where they would beef about that.

Are you aware of any pic threads showing 67-72 with the 88-98 stepside box? I aborted my search after I found those two that I posted.

I still say of the various generations shown, that's the best mix-n-match...

I always thought that these sort of things look cobbled together even when the extra work is put in to them. Here is one that was built at the shop I used to work at. I think you will agree that it was well done but even on the curves of the 50s trucks, it still doesn't match up 100%.

I can see that someone has a lot of time into that one but you're right it still just doesn't cut it.

Tough crowd!

The yellow one above looks pretty good to me, but this is what I'm talkin' about:

I love that. I'd drive it. It's even the right color. Ask the owner of this truck if he'd like to trade for a red '87...

(lol)
