Heater system questions
My heater doesnt seem to be throwing alot of heat. I think my heater box might be full of leaves and what not. I was just wondering how long it would take to pull it out and vacuum it out? Also if i was too just pull the hood bracket and remove the blower motor can you get alot of it cleaned out from there? Im kinda short of time right now and dont wanna start taking it apart and find out its like entire days job.

My guess is that you have a mouse nest in the blower housing. It isn't a major job to pull the blower motor out but you do have to unbolt the hood hinge from the fender. Prop the hood up with a stick and put a blanket under the back of the hood if you are concerned about scratching the paint on the back of the hood or the cowl. It works better if you have someone to handle the corner of the hood while you take the blower motor out. Be sure and mark around the hinge with a Sharpie before taking the bolts out so you can get it back in the same exact place when you bolt it back up. Don't be surprised if you find that mice have chewed holes in the Squirrel cage. LockDoc

Re: Heater system questions
My only recommendation would be to order a new set of gaskets and have them IN HAND before you start taking anything apart. If you're having problems getting enough heat, you don't want to break the seal and not be able to seal it up properly again.
In terms of time to do this, who knows... I prefer to drop the inner fender well and pull the whole box out. It's really a piece of cake. Just a few bolts. I'm just leary about being able to properly line up the hood after pulling the hinge loose. But that's just me. |

Re: Heater system questions
Does your truck have A/C? If not install a blower motor for an a/c vehicle. It will move a lot more air, which will also mean more heat.

Check your underdash hoses and diverter flap first!
