got a new diff ... anything i need to know ?
ok so i ran the stock diff in the 79 k10 out of fluid and scored the gears. so i found a 10 bolt out of a 2003 silverado with disc brakes and now im gonna weld on the new spring pearches ! ... is there anything special i need to know ? this is my first diff/spring pearch job ive done, ive read a bunch of articles on this but i have never done it myself. any suggestions or advice is welcome thanks for any posts !

No, seriously, there is nothing to traumatic about swapping axles. I would check the pinion angle of the original before you remove it. A magnetic angle finder on the yoke is all it takes. That way you can weld the new perches with it at the same angle. Obviously, measure carefully to be sure that it is centered. I would change the fluid after the welding. You might also check to be sure that the u-joint is compatible or that there is a adapter joint available before you start.

make sure the gears match your front axle..
