Another good oil thread
Found some info on New-Holland Ambra HSP motor oil -
1.7% Zinc Compounds ~ 1700 ppm Comes in some good viscosities, I'll start using it. http://www.viscosityoil.com/nh_mastergold.htm |

Re: Another good oil thread
Probably good stuff, but I'll stick with Mobil 1 synthetic. I get an easy 5000 miles out of it and it doesn't smell burned. Plus, Costco has it on sale this month: $23.99 for 6 quarts... not too bad!

Re: Another good oil thread
What kind of oil are you using your lucas with? I tried using tb zinc plus with rotella t per lucas and lost some oil pressure due to aeration. That's right I pulled over on the side of the road and pulled the stick and it was all foam. I emailed lucas about this problem they said it was caused by overfilling the crankcase. I call this BS because one month later i was told by my shops part supplier that he used the same rotella t and lucas and ended up air chiseling the bearings off his crankshaft.

Re: Another good oil thread
Just another tip... There are other tractor brands they make oil for, and they may have similar additive content, just browse that website, as they make oils for Cub Cadet and many others.

Re: Another good oil thread
Valvoline Premium Blue 15/40 in my diesel, Mobil 1 10/30 in my 70, cheap stuff 10/30 in the 85 all with the additive. What made me aware of this is the switch in diesel oils from CI-4 to CJ-4 specs the reason being not to damage the particulate filter/catalyst in the new quieter junk they call diesels with zinc and other by-products. and come to find out automotive oils have had less zinc for quite a while.
not only is zinc good for camshafts its is good for the valvetrain Last edited by clinebarger; 10-23-2009 at 09:38 PM. |
