Backup lights?
Anyone here put backup lights on there pickups? I have a 53, and I was thinking of adding some. I was thinking the smallest driving lights I could find might work tucked under the back, but I have never seen any on the 50's trucks.

Re: Backup lights?
Do you have a later model steering column? In dad's '57 we used a set of lights that we picked up from an auto store in town. mounted right under the brake lights.

Re: Backup lights?
I have the collumn wiring and switch, I just haven't seen any on the 50's 2 wheel drive lowerd trucks. I usualy see them added to 4x4's. Just wondering if it would look funny. If I can hide them under the back then you wouldn't notice them much untill they are lit up.

Re: Backup lights?
I am dealing with the same question on my 59. I want some really bright lights, not just a warning but along the lines of driving lights for trailer loading or backing up on trails at night. So far I am thinking about flush mounted in the thick part of the tailgate or built into the hitch. Fleetside beds had a factory option surface mounted below the brake lights. I want to rig up a switch to the trans shifter with dash switch override.
