any sugestions on storing a bare block ... its allready on a engine stand thanks alot

old wise tale say it makes them stronger, also alot of nascar teams do it, gm use to(might still do) something to do with the iron and the rust.

My work does that when the blown up turbos go back to GE for a rebuild, also at my work the intake filters for the locomotives come in this thick plastic back that has a slight oily substance on it, guys love them for storeing engines.

buddy of mine coated his in fogging oil for a boat and then wrapped it in plastic and left it in a cool dry storage closet

Coat completely with oil or WD40, seal up in a plastic bag and keep it inside in a dry place. Do not keep "in the weather", if you do your machining costs will skyrocket, along with possibly cracking the block if it gets wet and cold.

no ****, stacking them out back has no benifet, i gaurrantee without a doubt that any nascar team does not store thier $75-150,000 engine blocks "in the weather"

i take mine and spray them done with wd40, heavily, wrap with a towel and shrink wrap them up tight. i have 2 for 3yrs and not a spot of brown on them. i opend them up and set heads on them last year, sprayed the whole block down again and wraped them back up tight.

im partial to just good old heavy weight oil cover the entire bad boy (after a goood cleaning)
and then wrap it up in cellophane.. then store on a pallet or stand out of the way..

if youwant to be super anal you an throw a dessicant pack in the lifter valley...

well lucky me is that the engine was a leaker theres a 1/2 inch of grease on the ouside of the block lol dont know how it never started on fire lol so ill just poor a bunch of 90w on the inside thanks guys
