Are all frames the same?

I have a 67 k10. I am going to be swapping to a newer frame. I believe it is a 72. The vin is 2ZXXXXXX (72, fremont, # built). The frame has an 8 lug dana 44 open disk front and an incorrect width dana 60 temporarly in back.

I am wondering how to tell the differences in 1/2 or 3/4 ton frames, springs. or what is the difference if any?

Thanks

Re: Are all frames the same?

I've heard that the 1/2 and 3/4 has different cab mount locations. I also think that the 3/4 frame is build stronger.

Re: Are all frames the same?

I believe all cabs were the same, but the 4x4 mounts and 3/4t are different than the 1/2t rubber mounts.

I was wondering if the frames were built from bigger channel on 3/4t and if you can tell spring differences by leaf counts.

I am wondering if this is a 1/2t frame and springs with 3/4t axles. Im totally ok with that, I just want to know what it is.

Re: Are all frames the same?

The 72 frame is better.
1) the front springs are the same, both can have two or three spring pack.
2) the rear will have a bigger spring back and some will have a steel factory lift block
3) the 72 frame should have factory extra bracing for the steering box
4) the channel are the same only 1 ton cab and chassis has a bigger channel for the frame
there might be other parts that are different but this is what I know
