Paint codes

I am trying to find the paint code for my 68. The color is a bright red/orange. Not Hugger orange and not plain red. The glove box info sheet is gone. Anybody have some advice? Thanks

Re: Paint codes

Look under the seat and see if there is a paper there caught under the springs. That may give you the paint code. Another way is to take your truck to a automotive paint store and have them check you paint with a computerized color comparator. They may be able to derive the original code from that.

Re: Paint codes

Welcome to the 67-72 Truck Board from West Michigan!

You might try looking at the color chips on this link. The 68 color chips refer back to 67 so the link is for the 67 colors.

Re: Paint codes

My '68 Stepside has the original paint job, 516 Orange. Sometimes called Omaha Orange or Tangerine. But I think you're refering to the tomato red/orange that was also available. I don't know the RPO paint code for that color.

Re: Paint codes

Looks like 514 red on that link. Mine was that color originally.

Re: Paint codes

So is Fire Engine Red or "Resale Red" an aftermarket color?
