i have an 87 2wd swb and im looking for info on doing a rear disc brake conversion. Has any one done it? if so do you have links for parts?

I did a swap on my 72 Super Cheyenne. I used 96 Impala SS parts and brackets from Captainfab on the 66 board. I dont know if the brackets will work with a ten bolt rear axle though. My 72 had a twelve bolt. I have also heard of people swapping in an entire rear axle from a Impala SS but I dont know the width difference. I would be interested to know if an Impala axle will work. If so, I know where I will be getting my rear discs from.

You can keep the same bolt pattern by using a Caddy or Lincoln rearend. Older cars have disc brakes on the rear. Caddy rearends also correct the 1" travel path between the front and rear tires. You do have to move the perches for mounting.
Conversion kits are also available with Caddy or Vette brakes.

94 to 96 Caprice 9C1 (Police pkg) have the same brakes as the Impala SS, and they can be found in the boneyards.

I have a 9c1 parts car I'm parting out,I can measure the rear if you guys need numbers. I'm planing on using the brakes on my 2wd K5.

dont think there a lot of step by step instalations photos you might try the people selling those kits to look for buildlogs on there website

i seen a couple on pirate sumtin its a 4x4 website and a bit hard to navigate it seems pretty simple take out the axles remove the backingplates for the drumbrakes and install the diskbrake adapter replace the axles and mount disks on them the mount calipers and mount new brakelines and emergency brake cables if these aply to the kit .
the only thing that might take some thinking is the clocking of the calipers (top front or back on the disk ) the bleedernipple of the caliper should be on the top end spacing the adapter so the caliper is somewhat centered over the disk
another thing you might want to check is if youre wheels will still fit with the diskbrakes there usually bigger in diameter and stick out a bit more towarth the wheel

I think the Caprice stuff should work they are a 10 bolt with a 5 on 5 lug pattern would all work nicely i think

Just depends on the width. I already have my wheels and have no plans to change them or run any spacers.
