Re: 4X4 Crewcab Stepside Project..............
where's this at now???
I've thought of getting a step bed for my crew short. Wonder what it'd look like??? The "paint" version at the start of this thread looks good and is close to the color of my truck. C-ya

Re: 4X4 Crewcab Stepside Project..............
very cool!
wonder what my frame and drivetrain would be worth if I sold them but kept the sheet metal? Been thinking of fitting the 83 body to a late model Duramax chassis instead of putting the duramax powertrain into the older chassis? The newer frames are just stronger and already setup for the engine, trans, etc. Just something I've been kicking around. Almost hate to though cause the frame and stuff is in such good shape and converted very nicely. Just don't know. C-ya

Re: 4X4 Crewcab Stepside Project..............
How many CCSB's are you building...you got the 2wd together correct...are you still doing a 4x4?
do you have any parts left from your parts sub that you wanna part with? I guess I ought to check the parts section and see if you are selling anything

Re: 4X4 Crewcab Stepside Project..............
Must be a trend, I'm building a 4wd crew short bed myself. Started as a 2wd dually. I used DIY4x B52 kit for the front hangers, 4" springs I had from an older truck. The frames are a little taller on 2wd's I think, I tried a 4wd engine crossmember and didn't fit. I had a 1 ton 4wd to verify, same thing. I'm gonna use the stock 2wd engine mounts, then build a crossmember underneath to tie the frames together.
The rear had the Dana 70 dually, too wide for a SRW. I picked up a 14ff from an 80' GMC van, had weird 4.09s with a Govlok. Used rear spring front hangers off a 1/2, and 2wd 1/2 hangers for a poor man's shackle flip. I have a short box as reference, and triple checked where the frame needs to be shortened, also any other differences. I just mounted all the hangers, so it's sitting on all four wheels now. Hoping I can get it to the welder to get the frame shortened. Here are some pics of it, wish I had before pics. You can see the dually 2wd front end sitting off to the side, as well as the D70 rear.

Re: 4X4 Crewcab Stepside Project..............
I don't have a build thread, I like to see others builds, but for some reason I never take pics during the build. I'll try to get some on this one.
Also stilling working on my 84 shortbox. I just put in a 454, 4-speed/205, and end of summer swapped in 3/4 tons with 6" lift. Had to relocate the shackles for the front springs, rides alot better now. Also longer shackles. Rear needs a little work, after I put in some 4" springs over the block, rear angle isn't the greatest and the ride shows it. But one thing at a time. Won't get much done this week, need to take a driver test for Fedex, and no money....
