Road Racing diesel?

I have seen some pretty odd combinations, but this one ranks right up there. It's a 1982 GMC with a a modified 6.5L turbocharged diesel engine. That's not so unusual until you read that he built it as a road racer.

I like how it's a road racer but it's still at stock ride height. And that trail of black smoke that's behind it in every corner.

I read that a long time ago. Awesome. The only word to describe it.

Imagine the sound of that with an old school 2 stroke Detroit Diesel screamin' through them pipes. Did someone say music to my ears?

Re: Road Racing diesel?

Yeah, I know it is old news. I just stumbled across it and thought it was cool. His "Powered by Nachos" sticker made me giggle.

Trust me, I have no interest in diesel motors. Nothing against them, but I would have to pay someone to fuel them up. I can not stand the smell of raw diesel fuel.

Re: Road Racing diesel?

I have a friend here in Lubbock who is a diesel nut; he has several plus maybe 30 engines in various states...anyhow, one of his toys is an '82 C10 SWB that he's set up for drag racing with a 6.5 turbo with a big intercooler; very nicely done and quick, at least for a diesel. To demonstrate that he's actually crazier than that, he recently bought a dragster chassis and is building a diesel for it...

Me, I'm a rat fan so it seems a waste, but it is neat and well done. I'll see if he's got a picture to post.

And scootin, I'm with you on the two stroke; love the sound. I've got a 6V92TA in my motorhome; love it.

Travis
