My first post in over a year, my what has changed!!!
Hello everybody, I have not been online in a while but here I am again with more of my thoughts to throw around with you Anyway more recently I decided to purchase another one of those wonderful but challenging project trucks. So onto it, the truck is a 1985 Chevrolet C-30 reg. cab longbed DRW w/ 57,000 original miles (Yes you read that right) I have all the paperwork on the truck from when it was first bought, even the original title. It has the orig. 454 4BBL engine which is quite tired, it has the TH400 trans, w/ a Dana 70HD rear end (I think). There is only one trouble spot on the driver side rocker panel which is rotted through but still has plenty of good metal to work with. The truck ran good but with 4.56 gearing and a tired motor I decided not to waste any time on it so right away I tore the top of the motor apart, and I am in the process of finding a good cam that I can put in and keep the stock valve springs (any thoughts?), along with a new intake manifold and carb. I am also planning on some new 3.54 or 3.73 gears in the rear. I hope to have a truck that will cruise at 75-85 mph and and still be able to tear ass as needed Sorry I have no engine pictures (And yes that is a Dodge in my driveway but we all make mistakes!)
Anyway all of your thoughts are very important to me, and because the combined knowledge here on this message board is endless.....

I like your truck! Welcome back. Probably the same as whenyou stopped posting. Strange folks dedicated to their trucks. Some new names, some old farts, but overall same great groups of crazy folk!

Re: My first post in over a year, my what has changed!!!
Well to answer all of your questions I have just got around to changing the intake manifold, carb, and the cam, over to an edelbrock torker top end set, I checked Cylinder Head casting numbers and found out that when the truck had 34,000 miles someone replaced the heads with some 1975 454 oval port heads which are rated at 8.15 to 1 comp. ratio. which is decent so Anyway those 4.56 gears just used up that stock big block but they will have to do for now so I am just changing the fluid in the rear Dana 70 and holding off on the set of 3.54 gears that I have until I order that gear installation kit online from drivetrain.com which I plan to do very soon. As if I don't have enough stuff to do I recently aquired a 454 marine engine which I plan to bore .60 or 468 cu. in. I think. But I can't figure out what I want to put it in to so I was thinking a badass car, or a 4x4 truck is not out of the picture so the possiblities are endless and as always what does anyone think? I welcome any of your comments or thoughts. I'll let everybody know how everything goes when I get the "Blue Hinus" running again within these next few days.............So,
Drifting into various parts of the universe now waiting to read your next Hoorahs.....And,
